If you already have a wedding website, you almost certainly already have a seating chart tool attached to it, with your RSVPs in it, for free. Start there. Anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something, including us.
What those tools are is a drag-and-drop canvas: you make tables, you drag names onto them, and it saves. That is a real feature and for a great many weddings it is the whole job. The wall is not a quality problem, it is a category one — none of them decides anything. Every one of the decisions is still yours, and they arrive in the order the RSVPs do.
The short answer
Use the free one that already has your guest list until it stops helping, and it stops helping at a predictable point: when the number of pairs you have to keep straight outgrows what you can hold in your head, or when the list keeps moving and every move means re-checking the whole room by eye.

Use a free wedding-website planner when
- Under about 100 guests with no genuinely difficult pairs.
- Your list is settled and you are not expecting it to move.
- You are happy to do the deciding and just want somewhere to put the answer.
- Budget is the binding constraint — free is a real advantage and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
Use SeatingSorted when
- Divorced parents, an estranged pair, or anything where being wrong is expensive.
- Over about 120 guests, where the pairs to check outnumber what anyone tracks.
- You have already built it once and do not want to rebuild it after the next three replies.
- You would rather your guests told us privately than have to ask them yourself.
The part people find out too late
The free tools are not competing with this and should not be treated as if they were. They give you somewhere to record a decision. The question is whether making the decision is the part you want help with — for most weddings under a hundred it is not, and for most over a hundred and fifty it is.
